Global Street Design Guide

The Global Street Design Guide is the first-ever worldwide standard for designing safe and sustainable city streets.

It redefines how cities approach street design by prioritizing people, safety, and sustainability. Developed by the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) and the Global Designing Cities Initiative (GDCI), this guide offers practical, adaptable design strategies for various street types, enabling cities to create safer, more vibrant public spaces.

The guide emphasizes human-centered design, multimodal mobility, equitable access, and context-sensitive solutions. It includes global case studies and actionable tools that city leaders, planners, and designers can implement in urban environments of any scale.

I was part of the core team at the Global Designing Cities Initiative (GDCI) that developed the Global Street Design Guide.
